José Fernandez (Saturday 20/7/2004)

José Fernandez was born to an Andalusian Gypsy family, most of whose members were musicians. From his flamenco-singing grandfather, he inherited the gypsy temperament and a very developed artistic sense. At the age of four, he participated in gypsy ceremonies as a drummer or a phenomenal child singer, prompting a local newspaper to call him the “Mozart of Flamenco.

”Musician in his soul, he is interested in everything that makes a sound: guitar, piano, and all types of bass and percussion instruments. At age 12, he formed his first group with his brothers and cousins and soon this group was classified as one of the best in the area. Hundreds of concerts and dozens of prizes later, he met Michel Eléftériadés, a young producer and big aficionado of flamenco, and the two immediately realized that by unifying their creativity and musical backgrounds, they would go very far. Their music can be qualified as Mediterranean, bearing the color of the sea surrounding the Greek islands, the perfume of Lebanese blooms in the morning, the taste of the spices in Maghreb and the warmth of the sun in Malaga.
