Mission and Objectives

  The mission of MECCAD is to stimulate creativity and to promote cultural cooperation between the Arab World and the world at large. MECCAD aims to create awareness about the state of arts and culture in the region, the challenges and opportunities in their development, including the consequences of globalization on the preservation and promotion of local identities in changing times. Thus MECCAD aims to:

  Stimulate an awareness and understanding of Arab cultures through artistic and cultural activities.

  Bridge gaps and foster an understanding of Arab cultures by attempting to break down stereotypes portrayed images in the mass media and bringing to the public's attention the often overlooked aspects of Arab culture: its richness and diversity.

  Create linkages between Arab, Arab Diaspora and their international counterparts in order to engage in a cultural dialogue and examine critical issues that have marginalized the Arab voice in international debates on arts, culture and development.

  Increase the opportunities for the distribution of Arab cultural products locally, regionally and globally.

  Advocate for appropriate cultural policies for the development of cultural organizations and programs.
