Sarah Miller is the outgoing Director of the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (PICA) in Western Australia. She has worked in the arts for more than twenty years as a performer, writer, producer/curator, teacher, and artistic and executive director, working across the visual, performing, hybrid and new media arts. In 2004, in recognition of her contribution to the arts, Sarah was the recipient of the prestigious 2003 Sidney Myer Performing Arts Facilitators’ Award.


In 1998, Sarah was the inaugural recipient of an Australia Japan Arts Network (AJAN) residency, and in 2004, she undertook an Asialink residency with the Hong Kong Institute of Contemporary Culture (HK-ICC). She is a member of the World Cultural Forum Alliance – Asia Pacific. Sarah is a current member of the Theatre Board of the Australia Council, the Australian Government’s arts funding and advisory body. She has written extensively about the arts and cultural policy and is the state based editor and writer for the national arts broadsheet, Real Time, and an occasional columnist for the London based Contemporary Magazine.
