Mutaboba, Joseph
(former Rwandan Ambassador to the United Nations)

Joseph Mutaboba is former Rwandan Ambassador to the United Nations. Mr. Mutaboba also served as First Counsellor, Chargé d'Affaires at the Rwandan Embassy in Ethiopia from July 1996.


In September 1994 he was Chargé d'Affaires and then Head of Mission at the Rwandan Embassy in Washington, D.C. In addition to his diplomatic appointments, Mr. Mutaboba is also an experienced academic, researcher, journalist and human rights activist. From January 1985 to September 1994, he conducted research in the field of Library and Information Science, and was Lecturer at a number of institutions, including the University of North London. He also worked as a freelance journalist with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) World Service and participated in numerous television programmes.
