Dr. Damien M. Pwono is a cultural development planning and management specialist with expertise in the design and evaluation of arts and culture initiatives, the development of strategies and business plans for cultural institutions, and the training of cultural entrepreneurs and managers. He is the Managing Director of Cultural Engineering LLC, and a Research Associate at the University of Pittsburgh who conceived the World Culture Forum, the World Forum on Music and the Global Fund for Culture Initiative.

Dr. Pwono holds M.A and PhD degrees in Ethnomusicology from the University of Pittsburgh. He has served as the Secretary General of the International Music Council at UNESCO in Paris (2003-2005), the Program Officer for Media, Arts and Culture at the Ford Foundation in New York (1998-2003), and the Senior Program Advisor for the Rockefeller Foundation’s Arts and Humanities Division in New York and Nairobi (1993-1998).
